The downed economy has had some bright spots – people are more open to non-traditional means of doing things. Co-housing is a growing trend that I think is here to stay.
Many have gotten creative with their housing by renting out a room, rather than an apartment. In tough times, more families are open to renting out portions of their homes. Some are able to turn a separate area of the house into a private space, or even share parts of the home with you. This usually means utilities are included in the rent or at a fixed monthly cost and your rent will be a fraction of an apartment’s.
