Being Curious

For as long as I can remember, people have described me as curious. I used to drive my parents absolutely INSANE when I was small asking them “Wuzzat?” I had picked up the phrase from certain pink kangaroo of the same name (and habit) from¬†Zoobilee Zoo. Children of the 80’s will know the show well, as a bunch of people dressed up as animals and their musical misadventures.

Here’s a video for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about:

Cheesy, I know, but I LOVED Zoobilee Zoo. Anyway, I digress.

Yesterday, we talked about time banks. And one thing that can be accomplished through time banks is skill sharing. Well an online platform Skillshare specializes in the sharing of expertise among people – all for free. They are one of the top start-ups to watch in 2012. So when they sent me a message including a link to the video below, celebrating curiosity I just had to share it.

The Future Belongs to the Curious from Skillshare on Vimeo.

Inspiring stuff right? My boss once told me to be successful in public relations you had to have two things. You have to be a good writer and you have to be curious, because when you’re in PR you learn about a lot of things, but rarely do you become an expert in something. I think that becoming a good writer is a lifelong¬†endeavor, but being curious I have down pat. Tomorrow we’ll talk more about just how curious I am, and how you can satisfy your curiousity.

Until then, stay curious my friends.
