With 2012 looming, I thought now would be a perfect time to talk about preppers, or neo-survivalists. These folks go to extreme measures to be able to survive on their own, believing¬†apocalyptic, end of the world scenarios are upon us. Although they go well beyond what most of us would do, there’s lots of self-sustaining knowledge to be learned. For most of us, it is not unlikely that we will be without power for a day, or a week due to severe flooding, snow or other storms. Is your household prepared?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past few years it’s to be flexible. Being resilient doesn’t mean keeping the status quo, but instead rolling with the inevitable waves of change. When an opportunity presents itself, don’t think – just take it. It may not be the path that you thought, but it will be a good one. Trust me.
